Planning your move in Selby

Moves in Selby often involve red-brick terraces near the centre, post-war semis on estate roads, newer cul-de-sac housing and town-centre flats above shops. Access can be shaped by short kerb space, narrow staircases in upper-floor flats, tight estate turning areas and permit or time-limited bays near central streets and the station.

If you're planning a move in Selby, these local support guides cover the issues most likely to affect access, timing and move-day planning: For a broader view across York, see our York neighbourhood moving guide.

Check the proposed loading position

Loading arrangements to check include Selby town centre flats above shops with shared entrances and short kerb space on older streets near the centre, permit or time-limited bays around central shopping streets and station-side roads with heavier commuter-period traffic can make loading access time-sensitive.

Record the property route

Access features to check at the actual address include upper-floor flats above shops in Selby town centre, shared entrances in small apartment blocks, narrow internal staircases in town-centre flats and no dedicated loading point outside upper-floor flats.

Coordinate arrival with the access window

Local journey considerations include school-run traffic on local approach roads in the morning, mid-afternoon traffic near residential estates, heavier station and town-centre traffic at commuter periods and delays at bridge and river crossings around Selby at peak times.

Describe which of these conditions applies to your collection and delivery, and provide the dimensions of any furniture that may not pass. Confirm the entrance contact and any building appointment before choosing the loading help.

Selby Frequently Asked Questions

Plan the load, access and help needed at both addresses before booking.

Check availability for your collection and delivery postcodes, date, van size and loading requirements. Short-notice bookings depend on the actual job and available providers. An area availability guide is not a reserved slot; discuss any fixed collection or building-access window before booking.

Your quote reflects the addresses, date, van size, loading help and booked time. Include stairs, lift access, carrying distances and any extra stops at the start. A short journey can still require time for loading and unloading. Read what is included and possible additional charges before confirming.

Check the loading option selected during booking. With customer loading and unloading, you provide the people needed at both ends and the driver’s loading help is not included. If you book helpers, choose enough help for the heaviest items, stairs and carrying route. Ask our team if you are unsure about an awkward item.

List the items, measure bulky furniture and confirm access at both addresses. Pack belongings, secure loose parts and arrange the loading location. Packing is your responsibility unless otherwise agreed in writing; do not assume dismantling or reassembly is included. For a purchase collection, confirm the seller will be available and the item ready to load.

Match the service to the complete load. See single-item transport for one bulky purchase or small moves for boxes and a few pieces of furniture. For a full flat inventory, review flat removals and plan the vehicle and help around all your belongings.

You book through Find My Man and Van. After booking, we allocate a suitable vetted provider based on the move details and availability. Our customer support team helps with your booking from confirmation to completion. Contact support promptly if your inventory, addresses or access arrangements change.
