Find My Man and Van

Moving from the big city may seem extremely stressful but it doesn’t have to be. In fact there are many reasons why it may just be the best decision you ever make. Here are some tips to help the process go as smoothly as possible.

Do Your Research

So you have your heart set on moving out of London and into the great outdoors, the English countryside. You’ve chosen the area you want to move to but have you done your research? Make sure you are aware of the crime statistics, the amenities and even the local school’s Ofsted ratings if you have children. You don’t want any nasty surprises once you’ve moved - such as no spaces in any of the local GP surgeries or dentists or your child in a school that isn’t doing well.

Make A List

When it comes to moving house, we all know what we want from a property so make a list of what you want your home in the countryside to have. You will find that your money will go a little further now you’re out of London so you can get a slightly bigger property with a bigger garden, bigger kitchen or number of bedrooms. Knowing what you want and what you can afford is vital when making such a big move.

Ask For Help

Moving house is a big job at the best of times but moving out from the big city to somewhere completely different is a massive job, to say the least. Don’t be afraid to ask for help - ask friends and family to help you pack and perhaps even do charity shop or tip runs for the stuff you no longer want.

Consider a man with a van from London - by far the best move you can make when it comes to moving house. They will pick up your items and take them wherever you need them to go in a professional and careful manner. Fully insured, they are a great alternative to hiring a van and doing it yourself - a man with a van knows what he is doing and can get your property from A to B quickly and safely. They will also load and unload the items themselves.

Don’t Take Everything With You

We all end up with so much stuff whenever we live somewhere but how much of it do we actually need? Moving house is a great time to get rid of stuff you no longer want or need as you don’t want to be transporting it from the old property to the new property, especially if it is going to sit there doing nothing just like before.

If you’ve hired a man with a van to move your property from London the countryside, make sure they are only taking the stuff you want in your new home by getting rid of the other stuff whilst you are packing everything up.

Ensure You’ve Found Work Before You Move

If you are still close to London and happy to commute or you already work from home, this won’t apply to you but if you are having to find something new, make sure you have something in place before you move. Whilst there are plenty of job opportunities, the area you are moving to is bound to have fewer than the capital city and it might be more difficult to get something in your area of expertise and with any flexibility that you may be used to. By ensuring you have a job to go to in the area, the move won’t be anywhere near as stressful as it could be.

You Will Be Joining A Tight-Knit Community

London is an amazing city and it is easy to see friends and family in a matter of minutes thanks to the convenience of the Tube. You will probably find that you have your own little community there but moving to the countryside will see you find a whole new level of community.

The countryside has plenty to offer with towns and villages offering a multitude of sports clubs, social clubs, kids clubs and events for you to get involved in. With a smaller population than the big cities, towns and villages like this have very tight knit communities where everyone knows everyone else and are eager to help each other and support the local small businesses in their area too.

It Might Be Difficult To Move Back

Something you really must consider when moving from London to the countryside is if this move is permanent or a short term thing. If it is a permanent move, that’s great - but a short term thing may be worth considering. The capital city is one of the most expensive places to live in the country whereas property prices in the countryside are a lot cheaper. If considering moving out of London for a short amount of time, you may find it difficult to move back in when the time comes due to the rise in property prices and the demand for property.

Enjoy!

Finally, once your man in a van has unloaded all of your belongings at your new home, enjoy. You have so much to discover in a brand new area and a whole new life to get used to. You’ve made the move, you’ve got the keys, the stress has dissipated - so now is the time to get used to your new home.

Firstly the website is very easy to navigate. After filling in a few simple questions about you move, and youve paid your deposit, you are booked in to the system. You are given an email and text with your booking details to check over. Though you won't be matched up with your actual movers until 48 hours before your move, the communication is excellent with details of exactly what you need to do. Once you have been assigned your movers, you are advised to contact them at least 24 hours to confirm the booking. By this point you will have been asked to fill in an estimate through the website of what exactly needs moving. On the big day, James and Rob turned up right when they were supposed to and moved me in with record timing. All in all it was a great experience that helped relieve some of the stress of moving.

Ryan and the two guys with him were great. They were really good with my elderly relative who was a bit nervous about moving his items into storage, taking time to chat with him. They were helpful and friendly with lots of good humour. Would definitely use them again.
